will sit a written examination – this will last 1
hour and 30 minutes. It is
worth 40% of your
overall grade. This
will be based on pre-released material and will focus specifically on the genre of
Television News. There
will be four tasks for you to complete. In
total, there will be 60 marks available
in this paper. You
will have FOUR weeks to prepare for the exam. In this
time, you need to explore the topic of TELEVISION NEWS. You
will not be allowed to take your notes and research into the exam with you. You
will receive a new copy of the pre-release material on the day.
You need to develop an
understanding of Television News in relation to the four key concepts. These
are: Form: Codes & Conventions, Audience, Institution & Representation.
