You will need to develop an understanding of the way that a particular social group are represented inTV
news. For the exam, you will need to have developed an understanding of HOW Muslims are
represented in a particular news broadcast - these will need to be contrasting representations. There are
two news broadcast you will need to be able to discuss, the first being a BBC news broadcast which
focuses on the coverage of Lee Rigby murder on 22nd May 201s and the second is entitled
‘Paris
Journalist murders, freedom of speech versus religion’, featuring Asghar Bukari,
representative of
Muslim Public Affairs Committee (Broadcast after the Charlie Hebdo killings) – this is taken from Sky
news. You can access both of these clips below, but you must be able to to write about these in detail and
refer to specific examples.
