There is a reliance on visual images / real footage to tell a story in TV news. It could be argued that the
visuals dominate the news agenda on TV news. According to Krishnan Guru-murthy, he explains that ‘in the event that there is a lack of visual footage, a story will not run’. (Quote in the exam)

How does this news broadcast use real footage and where does this come from?

There is a real necessity for visual footage to be used in an attempt to illustrate a story. If there are no visuals, a story may not run. (See quote above) It could be argued that the visuals dominate the news agenda on TV news - this is one of the main reasons why news providers will use amateur footage from mobile phones; these are known as 'Citizen Journalists'.
